Overview

Newmarket House is an independent residential service dedicated to the treatment of adults with eating disorders.
It was founded in 1996 to offer holistic, person-centred care rooted in the belief that, provided with the appropriate support and opportunity, people with eating disorders want and are capable of recovery and can go on to enjoy rich and fulfilling lives unencumbered by their past difficulties. Newmarket House remains a dynamic, evolving service, integrating emerging research and best practice in the field within its core, recovery-orientated approach, and was rated as Outstanding for Care in its most recent CQC inspection.
We offer:
• a strengths-based approach focused on bolstering identity, autonomy and relationships as well as addressing patients’ eating disorder symptoms and other emotional difficulties
• expert medical care and robust safety and medical monitoring processes to meet the acute health needs of patients from early in their recovery
• a calm, optimistic environment and culture of honesty, kindness and respect
• a structured yet flexible clinical programme incorporating a wide range of individual and group therapeutic interventions
• personalised dietetic guidance to facilitate the safe restoration of physical health
• thorough assessment, needs evaluation and adaptation of treatment for neurodivergent patients
• close support for families and other caregivers
• liaison with patients’ community providers throughout their admission and extensive, multidisciplinary discharge planning to foster sustained recovery
The comprehensive and seamless nature of the treatment we offer minimises the risk of relapse, thus avoiding the cycle of repeated admissions that is common in the treatment histories of many with severe eating disorders. Our ambition for every patient is that their admission to Newmarket House should mark a decisive moment in their recovery and an important step towards a better future.

Newmarket House is commissioned by the NHS as one of its three specialist inpatient providers for adult eating disorder treatment for the East of England. We also offer two treatment pathways for private patients:
• The Comprehensive Residential Pathway, in which service patients complete our four-stage treatment programme on an inpatient basis
• The Stepped Care Pathway, in which patients complete the majority of their treatment of a day- and outpatient basis.
As with our work with NHS providers, we liaise closely with private patients’ community clinicians at every stage of their admission. Patients’ community providers are invited to regular CPA meetings throughout their stay and discharge plans are coordinated with them to ensure that patients have the support they need to sustain and build upon their work at Newmarket House once they return home.
The current self-pay prices for treatment at Newmarket House are £250 for pre-admission assessment, £545 per day for inpatient treatment, £345 per day for day treatment and £250 per week for outpatient psychological and occupational therapy.
Where clinically appropriate, patients may be able to enter the Stepped Care Pathway as day treatment patients rather than first completing a period of inpatient care. We currently only have capacity to offer outpatient psychological and occupational therapy as step-down treatments following inpatient and day treatment care, not as stand-alone treatments.
